Open Letter To All Cat Parents
Here’s why you need to start taking care of your cats hydration TODAY!
Dear Cat parent,
My name is Christopher and I’ve been a vet for over 10 years. In that time I’ve seen cats of all shapes, sizes and breeds come through my doors. Despite the fact that every cat is different, their longevity, happiness and everyday energy can all be affected by:
A Lack of Proper Hydration
Now, please don’t disregard this issue because you have a water bowl in your house, over 3,000 domestic cats die each year in the US alone due to dehydration.
Cats are particularly susceptible to becoming dehydrated because they do not have a strong “urge” to drink water like most animals do.
You see, cat’s are natural-born carnivores, so they’re conditioned to get most of the water they consume through the food they eat.
On any given day in the wild, cat’s will consume roughly 2 times their body weight in water to stay hydrated, which is drastically more than the amount the average cat consumes in a household.
This discrepancy is due to two things:
1. A lack of water in most cat food (Kibble especially)
2. A lack of fresh water. Cat’s are incredibly picky when it comes to the water they drink (Like they are with everything else 😂).
They don’t like to drink water that’s been sitting out too long and they aren’t big fans of drinking water that isn’t moving because it isn’t as fresh.
Combine the two of these together & your cat may be significantly closer to being dehydrated than you might think. This puts the responsibility on you to constantly keep their water clean & fresh which can be incredibly difficult & time consuming in a world where we all barely seem to have enough time as it is.I’ll cover how to solve ALL of these problems in a moment…However
You MUST know what signs to look out for in your cat
They are:
- Dry gums (They should be wet & slimy)
- Sunken eyes
- Lethargy
- Constipation
- Poor skin elasticity
- Increased heart rate
- Frequent urination
Now, if your cat is not showing any of the above signs…
Does this mean you should wait until they do before you act?
Absolutely Not!
Acting before you see any signs is critical and if your cat is currently healthy with no negative signs, it’s a great time to introduce your cat to some high-quality hydration.
You see, the best way to take care of them and help them live a long, happy life with you, is to maintain their current health.
So, now you know the signs to look out for in your cat…
And you know the importance of acting fast… Even if you see no signs at all…
Here is the MUST HAVE every cat owner needs to have to keep their cat properly hydrated and maintain their health
Just one important thing:
- Once you find out what this is, you’ll be tempted to grab one from your nearest pet store or online, however…
- This will do nothing but burn a hole in your pocket. I’ll explain exactly why later.
First, let’s cover what it is:
A Filtered Water Fountain For Your Cat
Filtered Water Fountains are the perfect way to maintain or improve your cat’s health & happiness by providing them with fresh, filtered water all day long.
The water is filtered to remove 99% of impurities such as magnesium, calcium, hair or dirt.
These can accumulate in your pets lower urinary tract and lead to a urinary tract infection
The water is constantly flowing, keeping it fresh and significantly more enticing than the water in a bowl that’s been sitting around all day.
They hold enough water to last for WEEKS without you having to change it, saving you a ton of time throughout the day while ensuring your cat stays hydrated and healthy.
